Tampa, FL (April 4- 15, 2016)
The Common Reading Experience (CRE) program is excited to present a unique event for students and the USF community: the CRE Creative Works Showcase.
The CRE Creative Works Showcase is an opportunity for students to work on a creative project inspired by this year’s CRE book, The Complete Persepolis. The purpose of the Showcase is to use an art form(s) to expand upon a book theme and express or communicate about it artistically in the selected verbal/nonverbal form so that others can appreciate or learn more about the theme/book.
Works of art will be accepted from individuals or groups for projects in the areas of Music, Dance, Creative Writing, Theatre, Video, and Visual Art. The show will be curated by the Centre Gallery Staff. Prizes will be awarded for best in show. For more information and submission guidelines, please visit http://www.lib.usf.edu/common-read/.
Visitors to the Centre Gallery will be exposed to a variety of student works of art (visual, music, theatre, dance, video, creative writing) that reflect students’ point of view about an element of The Common Reading Experience book– story, mood, theme, era, character(s), etc.
The CRE Creative Works Showcase will be the culminating event of this year’s common reading program and a featured event during USF Week. The show will unite the campus community in a discussion about diverse ideas, experiences, and points of view. Attending the showcase will encourage visitors and artists alike to engage in about issues relevant in today’s global society.
