The Centre Gallery Presents “SELENE, serene”
Designs by Molly Matchstick
Tampa, Fla. (Oct. 2013) – From Oct. 21 through Nov. 1, the Centre Gallery at the University of South Florida will host SELENE, serene by Molly Matchstick. Visitors to the gallery will encounter the dreams of the artist all constructed through her personal aesthetic, conveyed through dress design.
Molly Matchstick’s exhibition was motivated by the gallery space sparking an idea to display a runway show. This exhibition, and the concluding fashion show, was inspired by her immediate surroundings, the models who wear her designs on the runway, and her greatest inspirations: the mood and the female. Using locally procured materials, featuring fabrics such as cotton, chiffon, metallic print, and laser-cut suede, Matchstick created a handmade collection of little black dresses complimented with purses and ties.
DessART, Centre Gallery’s opening reception for this exhibit, will be held on Oct. 21 from 12 – 1pm. The closing reception, After Hours Event: Fashion Show, will be held from 7 – 9pm on Thursday, Oct. 31, (Halloween) in the Centre Gallery. The Centre Gallery is located on the second floor of the Marshall Student Center in room 2700, at 4202 E. Fowler Ave., Tampa, Fla. It is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 11am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.
